
One squad is looking to win a title after moving up a class. The other squad is looking for its second title in the last three years. FLCC will be the home of a clash between Aquinas and Webster Schroeder for the Section V Class AA Girls’ Basketball title. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Aquinas defeated Churchville-Chili 74-47 to open the tournament and then topped Canandaigua 73-42. The Li’l Irish defeated Pittsford Mendon 57-53 to move onto the Class AA final. Webster Schroeder beat Irondequoit (62-34), Bishop Kearney (43-38) and top-seeded Hilton (73-54) to advance to the Class AA final.

History 101: Aquinas is looking to go back-to-back after winning the Class A title last year. Aquinas returns all five starters from that team which advanced to the NYS Class A semifinals. With a win, it will be the program’s sixth Section V title. Webster Schroeder can win its third title in program history and second in the last three years. Schroeder won the NYS Class AA title in 2023. Aquinas took a 66-62 decision when the two teams met in late January. Codi (Battaglia) Mrozek graduated from Aquinas in 2012 and was a member of the school’s basketball team.
What’s at stake: Winner advances to face the Section VI Class AA champion.
