How they arrived here: No. 4 seed Pittsford Sutherland opened the postseason with a 67-41 win over Batavia and then took down Pal-Mac 51-39. Sutherland then defeated No. 1 seed East 74-54 in the semi finals to advance to the Class A final. Newark defeated Midlakes (63-35), Our Lady of Mercy (60-56) and Eastridge (61-58) to reach the Class A final

History 101: Pittsford Sutherland is making its fourth straight title appearance. The Knights are looking for their fourth title and first since 2014. The Knights went on to win the 2014 NYS Class A championship, defeating Jamesville-Dewitt (III) 57-41. Newark has won four sectional titles and its last came in 2009. The Reds went on to win a state title that year. Newark has not been back to sectional championship since 2009.
