
With just a few weeks until the team’s April 1 home opener, the Rochester Red Wings have made a series of announcements in the last week, revealing details on the 2025 promotional schedule and this season’s Baseball’s Back Bash.
Before the season even begins, the Red Wings will host the eighth annual Baseball’s Back Bash on Friday, March 21, at Innovative Field. The event, running from 4:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m., provides the first opportunity for fans to visit the ballpark this season.
The free event will host a variety of activities, including food (free Zweigle’s hot dogs, $2 beers, $1 soda), live music from the local band Genesee Saw, tailgate-style games, speed pitch, a bounce house, and autographs from Spikes and Mittsy. In addition, the team store and ticket office will both be open.
The Red Wings have also announced their yearly promotional schedule. Although the schedule is currently simply preliminary and may change in the future, several popular events are making a return to the ballpark, such as the annual Fourth of July Celebration, a postgame performance by the Rochester Philharmonic on July 5, an appearance by the Zooperstars on July 25, and nights celebrating teachers (May 2), the military (May 26), women in sports (May 30), the Negro Leagues (June 13), Star Wars (June 28), the 90s (July 23), Christmas in July (July 26), Pride (Sept. 9), and Deaf Culture (Sept. 12). There will be six replica jersey giveaway days, as well as three bobblehead giveaways. Like every season, the schedule also has plenty of fireworks nights as well as appearances by Bruce the Bat Dog. Red Wings fans will have an early opportunity to see members of the team as well as other top prospects in the Washington Nationals’ system during the MLB Spring Breakout event on Friday, March 13, at 2:05 p.m. against Houston and Sunday, March 16, at 5:05 p.m against the New York Mets. The event, which pits teams of prospects from across each franchise’s minor league system against each other, will feature seven previous members of the Red Wings: left-handed pitcher Andrew Alvarez, righty pitcher Brad Lord, righty pitcher Carlos Romero, right-hander Jack Sinclair, right-hander Tyler Stuart, infielder Brady House, and outfielder Andrew Pinckney. Several players who will likely play for the Red Wings in 2025 will also take part- last season, players like Dylan Crews and James Wood were on the Nationals’ Spring Breakout roster. All Spring Breakout games will be available to stream on MLB.com.
The Red Wings return to Rochester in late March, where they’ll take part in the American Legion Welcome Home Dinner on March 26, the first held since 2019. They’ll start the season on Friday, March 28, in Buffalo, before heading back to Rochester for the home opener on April 1 at 4:05 p.m. against Lehigh Valley. As is tradition, Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason has guaranteed that it will be at least 50 degrees come game time on opening day, promising that if he’s wrong everyone with an opening day ticket will get a free ticket to any game in April or May.
