LANCASTER (VI) 3
FAIRPORT (14-0-3) 5

Senior Ryan Mathis had two goals and two assists and junior Justin Burton scored twice as the Red Raiders avenged a 1-0 loss in last year’s regional to Lancaster. Fairport (14-0-3) will play Walt Whitman (XI) or Syossett (VIII) in next Saturday’s 5:45 p.m. state semifinals in Middletown. READ MORE.

CLARENCE (VI) 4
SPENCERPORT (12-7-1) 0

The Rangers had trouble generating much in the attack and lost to the Red Devils (18-2), who also eliminated Churchville-Chili last year. Spencerport scored only 29 times this fall and that lack of playmaking caught up to the Rangers. Making their 19th regional appearance, the Red Devils led 13-3 in shots and pressed goalie Antonio Marsocci into nine saves. Clarence took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a pretty, flick-on goal by Dylan Stellrecht. The senior nodded home a high 15-yard header, catching Marsocci a few yards off his line. Felipe Garrido-Pereira assisted. Just 3:05 into the second half, Patrick Krough converted on a shot in the box off a 40-yard pass over the top, and 10 minutes later Garrido-Pereira beat two defenders and slipped a 12-yard shot inside the right post. Finally, with 3:03 left AJ Gulde scored from his knees on a near-post header into the upper 90.

CLASS B

EAST AURORA (VI) 6
HORNELL (16-2-1) 0

The Blue Devils (19-2) scored three times in the first 16 minutes and never looked back in routing Hornell for the second straight season (7-1 last year). The defending state champs led 11-1 in shots. Hornell trailed 3-0 at halftime and played a man short the final 15 minutes after a red card.

East Aurora junior Owen Mack (21 goals) scored three times, including the game-winner 7:40 in, junior Kai Sendziak had two assists and sophomore Bronson Besant had a goal and assist. Junior goalie Alfie Whitely made five saves for Hornell and East Aurora’s Connor Morris had one for his ninth straight shutout. The 437th victory for EA’s Kevin Beale made him the winningest boys’ soccer coach in Section VI history.
