Drew Williamee hurled three touchdown passes, as well as using his legs for one on a blustery night to lead Canandaigua into the Section V Class A final for the fifth time in the last six years, defeating Brockport 33-14.
Trey Comella bursted up the middle for a 16-yard touchdown run to open the scoring for Canandaigua in the first frame. Landon Scott completed a two-yard pass on the ensuing drive to Brayden Scaccia to give Brighton a 7-6 lead.
After the Grey Wolves blocked a punt on the first drive of the second quarter, Drew Williamee found Nate Brinza for a 20-yard touchdown pass. Williamee then found Nate Clark for a two-point conversion and reclaiming the lead. After forcing a stop, Williamee hurled a 35-yard pass to Cayden Gullace, extending the lead to 20-7.
With under a minute left in the half, Williamee found Brinza on an 18-yard screen pass for a touchdown, putting Canandaigua up 26-7 at the half.
After a second blocked punt of the game for the Grey Wolves, Williamee scampered into the end zone on a quarterback keeper with less than a minute to go in the frame for insurance.
Scaccia found the end zone for a second time in the fourth quarter on a 16-yard rush, making it a 33-14 game.
For Canandaigua, Williamee went 7-for-12 for 126 yards and three touchdowns. Nate Brinza hauled in three passes, including two for touchdowns and racked up 39 yards. Sam Clark made a pair of grabs, totaling 26 yards. Comella added 18 rushing attempts for 110 yards and a score, alongside a 26-yard snag.
For Brockport, Scott went 3-for-3 in the air, finishing with 24 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Judd added three catches for 30 yards. Scaccia finished with 41 yards on 16 rushing attempts.
Canandaigua advances to the Section V Class A championship game and will face the winner of Brighton and Monroe.
