How they arrived here: Kendall (No. 4 NYSSWA) downed Gananda (7-1) and Campbell-Savona (2-1) to reach the C2 title game, where it defeated Genesee Valley-Belfast, 3-1. After that, it beat C1 champion East Rochester, 3-0, to clinch a spot in the state tournament. Allegany-Limestone (No. 13 NYSSWA) outscored its opponents in the Section VI Class C tournament 13-2 over three games, beating Randolph 2-0 in the sectional finals.

History 101: Kendall is making its second trip to the state quarterfinals The only other regional appearance came in 1998 when the Eagles beat Chautauqua Lake, 3-2. Allegany-Limestone is making its first appearance in state quarterfinals since falling to Byron-Bergen in 2017. That was fourth straight trip to regionals for the Gators. Allegany-Limestone is 0-8 all-time in Far West Regional action.
