Fairport and Lancaster will meet for the second straight year in the New York State Class AAA quarterfinals. A 2:30 p.m. kickoff is scheduled at Geneseo High School. Here’s what you need to know:

How they arrived here: Top-seeded Fairport (No. 1 NYSSWA Class AAA) had a first-round bye in a five-team sectional tournament. The Red Raiders defeated No. 4 Rush-Henrietta 2-0 to advance to the Class AAA final. In the final, the Red Raiders topped McQuaid Jesuit 3-2 to advance to the Far West Regional. Top-seeded Lancaster (No. 5 NYSSWA Class AAA) defeated No. 4 West Seneca 4-0. In the final. the Legends defeated No. 3 Jamestown 6-1 to advance to the Far West Regional.

History 101: This is a rematch of the 2023 Class AA Far West Regional, in which Lancaster came out on top 1-0. Fairport is 7-2-0 all-time in regional play including a 4-0 win over Lancaster in 2019. The Red Raiders also have state quarterfinal victories over Clarence in 2016 (1-0/Class AA), Orchard Park (1-0/2014/AA), Clarence (1-0/2013/AA), Clarence (2-1/1998 Class A), Sweet Home (1-0, 1997/A) and Lakeshore (3-0, 1996/A). Fairport lost in overtime to Clarence (1-0) in 2009. Lancaster is coming off its ninth Section VI title in program history.
What’s next: The winner advances to the New York State semi-finals to face either Syosset (VIII) or Walt Whitman (XI).
