Section V Boys’ Soccer hands out a championship Saturday, November 2 when Pittsford Mendon and Brockport meet for the Class A title at 7:30 P.M. Here is what you need to know:
No. 1 seed PITTSFORD MENDON VIKINGS (16-1-0/MONROE 3)

No. 2 seed BROCKPORT BLUE DEVILS (17-1-0/MONROE 4)
How they arrived here: Both of these teams entered in the quarterfinals, getting a bye through the first round. Pittsford Mendon (NYSSWA Class A No. 13) got the rest of the way by beating No. 9 Batavia (7-1) and No. 4 Pittsford Sutherland (1-0) while Brockport (NYSSWA Class A No. 4) defeated No. 10 Honeoye Falls-Lima (4-0) and No. 3 Newark (3-1).

Trends: Pittsford Mendon hasn’t lost since a 1-0 defeat to Greece Arcadia on Sept. 17, and has 12-game win streak. Brockport’s lone loss of the year came in its final game of the regular season, a 5-3 defeat to the very Pittsford Mendon squad now standing in the way of a sectional title.

History 101: Pittsford Mendon has won 21 sectional titles – behind only Red Creek (23) in Section V history, but hasn’t won a championship since 2013. Brockport has four titles, most recently in 2017.
What’s next: The winner advances to the New York State Class A Far West Regional to play the Section VI champion on November 9 at Geneseo High School.
