Section V Boys’ Soccer hands out a championship Friday, November 1st at Penn Yan when Naples and Arkport-Canaseraga meet with the Class D title up for grabs. A 6 p.m. kickoff is scheduled. Here is what you need to know:
No. 2 seed NAPLES BIG GREEN (17-1-0/Finger Lakes West)

No. 4 seed ARKPORT-CANASERAGA WOLVES (11-4-2/Steuben 2)
How they arrived here: Naples (No. 1 NYSSWA Class D) opened the tournament with a 10-0 win over No. 15 Friendship-Scio before defeating No. 10 Lyndonville (6-1) and No. 6 Fillmore (2-1) in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively. Arkport-Canaseraga reached the finals by beating No. 13 Jasper-Troupsburg (5-0), No. 5 Avoca-Prattsburgh (3-0) and top-seeded Northstar Christian (2-1).
Total goals scored: Naples (86), Arkport-Canaseraga (38)
Total goals allowed: Naples (5), Arkport-Canaseraga (14)
Trends: The lone loss for Naples this year came on Sept. 18 against Dundee-Bradford, and the Big Green haven’t allowed more than one goal in any game this season. Arkport-Canaseraga enters the sectional finals on an eight-game win streak.

History 101: Naples is seeking its 13th sectional title and its first since 2020- it lost in the Class D final last season to Fillmore, 2-1, after eliminating Arkport-Canaseraga in the semifinals. Arkport-Canaseraga has won a sectional title just once as a combined program, in 2009, but Arkport alone won titles in 1995 and 1956 and Canaseraga won 12 titles as a program.
What’s next: The winner advances to the New York State Class D Far West Regional to play the Section VI champion (Ellicottville or North Collins) on November 8 at Geneseo High School.
