The 2024 Section V Class D tournament has 15 teams, including four teams each from Allegany County and Steuben County, two Private-Parochial schools, two teams from the Livingston County Athletic Association, and one each from Genesee Region, Finger Lakes West, and Wayne County. Play begins on Tuesday, October 22nd and runs through the sectional title game on Friday, November 1st.
The top seed and the lone team to receive a bye to the quarterfinals is Northstar Christian Academy (15-0-0), looking to improve on last season’s semifinal appearance and win its first sectional title since 2010. Northstar is one of three remaining unbeaten teams in Section V Boys’ Soccer along with Livonia (B/15-0-1) and Fairport (AAA/11-0-3). Second-seeded Naples (14-1-0) was last season’s runner-up in Class D and hasn’t lost a game since Sept. 18. The No. 3 seed, C. G. Finney (9-7-0), hopes to win its first title since 2021. Rounding out the top four seeds is Arkport-Canaseraga (9-4-3), which enters the tournament on a five-game win streak.

Other teams to watch include a pair of 10-win teams in the form of No. 5 Avoca-Prattsburgh (10-4-2) and No. 7 Houghton (10-5-0). Sixth-seeded Fillmore (9-4-3) won the Class D title last season and enters the tournament on a four-game win streak. Eighth-seeded Andover-Whitesville (8-6-2) went 4-2 in its last six games to clinch an opening round home game.
