The 2024 Section V Class C1 tournament has 13 teams, including four from the Wayne County League, three from Genesee Region, two each from Livingston County Athletic Association and Steuben County as well as one each from Allegany County and the Finger Lakes. The tournament starts Wednesday, October 23rd, with the finals on Saturday, November 2nd at Honeoye Falls-Lima. The winner of Class C1 faces the Class C2 champion in the regional qualifier on Wednesday, November 6th.
East Rochester (15-1-0), last year’s C1 runner-up, is aiming for its first sectional title under head coach Mike Yacuzzo and enters the tournament as the top seed (the top three seeds receive byes to the quarterfinals). The Bombers lost their opening game against Class B’s Livonia but have gone undefeated since. In the second seed is Byron-Bergen/Elba (12-3-1), who advanced to the state finals last season and enter this tournament on a five-game winning streak. Third-seeded Geneseo (12-4-0) was the runner-up in Class C2 last season and has won seven of their last eight. Rounding out the top four seeds is the one top seed that won’t have a bye: Holley (11-3-2), seeking its first sectional title since 2010.
Other teams of note include a pair of 10-5-1 teams in fifth-seeded Williamson and sixth-seeded Canisteo-Greenwood. In the seventh seed is Sodus (9-6-1), who finished 3-1-1 in their last five contests of the season. No. 10 seed Pavilion/York (7-9-0) enters the postseason on a two-game winning streak, while 11th-seeded Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale (7-8-1) was the Class C2 champion last season.
