A late Dylan Crews homer to center field was not enough on Saturday night as the Rochester Red Wings lost 2-1 to the Buffalo Bisons at Sahlen Field. Crews went 2-for-4 on the day with the only run scored for the Red Wings. Despite Rochester having eight hits to Buffalo’s five, the Wings were unable to capitalize on all but one.
Scoring was set up in the second inning for the Bisons with an Alan Roden walk and a Riley Tirotta hit that led to Red Wings third baseman Brady House throwing error. Nick Raposo sent a line drive down center field to allow Roden to score, putting the first points on the board for either team.
Brad Lord was the starting pitcher for the Red Wings, allowing two hits and one run over five innings of work. Lord also had a total of three walks and four strikeouts on the day.
The Bisons scored again in the sixth inning after they were set up with a walk for former Major League star Joey Votto, a walk for Alan Roden, and a line drive single to center field from Josh Kasevich. Red Wings pitcher Carlos Romero walked Gabriel Cancel with the bases loaded, bringing Votto home.
The Bisons pitching group was able to strike out a total of ten batters throughout the game, helping keep this game to be the lowest scoring throughout this weeks series.
The Red Wings and the Bisons will have their series finale at Sahlen Field on Sunday. The Red Wings are currently down 2-3 in the series and is looking to tie it up with the first pitch going out at 1:05 p.m.
