A pair of homers down the stretch by Parker Zeiser and Jeff Broadnax helped secure Greece Post’s 5-1 victory atop the Orange County Outlaws in the American Legion New York State Tournament at Conlon Field in Binghamton, New York on Monday afternoon. After a one-run second inning for Orange County, Greece Post held the Outlaws off the scoreboard for the game’s duration. Nathan Power started and pitched five innings, fanning two with the single earned run surrendered. Quentin Grimes earned the save across two hitless relief innings adding one strikeout.

Greece Post created an early 2-0 hole for Orange County in the bottom of the first led off by Jaden Madrid’s walk and Derrick Allen’s double. A balk scored Madrid and placed Allen on third before stealing home for run two.

Steven Kraus and Brody Froman each collected their first of two walks in the first inning. Kraus also stole a base. Froman’s sixth-inning leadoff walk preluded his crossing home on Broadnax’s bomb.

Brady Gerig contributed a single and a stolen base. Weston Elkovitch and Kaleb Juliano each tallied a base on balls.

For the Outlaws, Alex Exarchakis went 2-for-3 including a second-inning leadoff single that set him up to score Orange County’s run. Derek Pula doubled to put Exarchakis on third before AJ Lugo’s groundout brought him in. Pula also pitched 3.2 relief innings and struck out two batters while sacrificing just two hits and one earned run. Jake DeMaro was 2-for-3 with a double.

Greece Post enters the semifinals No. 1 after going 2-0 in pool play. They turn their heads to tomorrow when they’ll be back at Conlon Field to play the No. 3 Clinton County Mariners. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Binghamton.
