Henry Shutts paced Gananda to a 17-2 record in the regular season and the No. 1 seed in Class C1. Coaches of the Wayne County League named Shutts the 2024 Player of the Year.
Shutts finished 7-1 on the mound over nine starts for the Blue Panthers. The right-hander threw 45 innings, struck out 79 batters, and finished with an ERA of 1.55. In the batter’s box, Shutts hit .545 and produced 12 extra-base hits including a home run. He drove in 29 runs and crossed home plate 33 times.

Shutts, a sophomore, has been a starter on varsity since he was an eighth grader. His career strikeout total currently stands at 274, while at the plate he has tallied career figures of 73 hits, 26 extra-base hits, and 55 RBI.
Shutts was the only non-senior to win a Section V Class Player of the Year award this season, as the sophomore took home Class C1 Player of the Year honors.
