One squad is entering the Far West Regional looking for its first win in program history. The other is making a second straight appearance and third in program history. How they arrived here: Top-seeded Pittsford Sutherland defeated Wayne (7-2) and Mercy (11-1) to reach the Class A Section V title game. The Knights then beat Honeoye Falls-Lima 2-1 to hoist the sectional block. Iroquois beat CSAT (15-0), Tonawanda (9-2), Grand Island (4-2) and Williamsville South (5-2) to win the Section VI trophy.

History 101: Pittsford Sutherland is coming off its fourth sectional title in the last seven years. The Knights are looking for their first Far West Regional win in program history. Pittsford Sutherland last captured the Section V crown in 2022 but fell to the eventual state champion Webster Schroeder in the Far West Regional Qualifier. Iroquois is back in the Far West Regional for the second straight year. The Chiefs fell to Wellsville last season and hold a 1-1 record in regional play, that win coming in 2018 against Mercy.
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class A Semifinal against the winner of Seaford (VIII) and Miller Place (XI).
