One team just won its first sectional title in the past 28 years, and another is looking for a fourth trip to the state semifinals since 2002. Wilson and Bolivar-Richburg will meet to decide who’s season will continue on Friday. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Bolivar-Richburg knocked off Keshequa 14-1 in the opening round of the Section V C2 playoffs, defeated Cuba-Rushford 8-1 in the quarterfinals and beat Kendall 13-2 in the semifinals to advance to the championship round for the fifth consecutive season. The Wolverines then took down Geneseo 4-2 to lift the Section V C2 block and won 7-3 against Letchworth in the regional qualifier. Wilson defeated Barker 5-0, Holland 7-1, Frewsburg 3-2, and Gowanda 3-1 to make it to the Far West Regional.
Tempo and Trends: Bolivar-Richburg averages 11.2 runs scored per game and 3.0 runs allowed per game. The Wolverines have won eight games in a row. Wilson scores 4.2 runs per game and allows 3.0 runs per game defensively. The Lakemen have won four straight games.

History 101: Bolivar Richburg is making its’ first appearance in a Far West Regional since 2014 and boasts a 3-0 record in regional play since 2002. Wilson is coming off of its first sectional title win since 1996.
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class C semifinal against the winner of Pierson (XI) and either Burke Catholic (IX) or Tuckahoe (I).
