One squad is coming off its second sectional title in the last three years. The other captured its ninth title in the last 14 years. Letchworth and Bolivar-Richburg will battle to decide who advances to the Class C Far West Regional. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Letchworth defeated Bloomfield via walkoff 6-5 in the opening round before beating Warsaw 9-6 to earn a spot in the semifinals. A 9-1 win over top-seeded Gananda punched Letchworth’s ticket to the championship, then a 4-2 win over Avon captured the C1 title. Bolivar-Richburg knocked off Keshequa (14-1) in the opening round, defeated Cuba-Rushford (8-1) in the quarterfinals and beat Kendall (13-2) in the semifinals to advance to the championship round for the fifth consecutive season. The Wolverines then took down Geneseo 4-2 to lift the C2 block.
Tempo and trends: Letchworth scores 7.72 runs per game and allows 4.67. Bolivar-Richburg averages 11.2 runs scored per game and 3.0 runs allowed per game. The Legends have won eight of their past nine games, while the Wolverines have won seven in a row.

History 101: Letchworth is coming off its second title in the last three years and its second title in program history. The Legends last won in 2022 but fell in the Far West Regional Qualifier to Oakfield-Alabama. Bolivar-Richburg has claimed the title in five of the last six seasons and 12 overall. The Wolverines’ 12 sectional championships have all come since 2000 and are tied for the third most title wins in Section V history. Bolivar-Richburg also fell to Oakfield-Alabama in the 2022 Far West Regional Qualifier.
