Sectional Final Softball Preview: Bloomfield, Letchworth to meet in Class C1 Final

One team is seeking its first sectional title since at least 2009. Another is looking for its first title since 2019 after falling in last year’s final. Bloomfield and Letchworth will do battle for the Class C1 crown. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Bloomfield defeated No. 8 Campbell-Savona (13-0) in the quarterfinals and knocked off No. 4 Oakfield-Alabama in the semifinals to punch a ticket to the championship. Letchworth handled No. 4 Red Creek (22-6) in the opening round, defeated No. 6 Addison (5-2) in the quarterfinals and knocked off No. 2 Avon (3-0) in the semifinals

Tempo and trends: Bloomfield averages eight runs per game and allows one run per game. Letchworth scores 7.5 runs per game while allowing 5.4 runs per game. Bloomfield is riding a two-game winning streak and has won 11 of its last 10. Letchworth has won three in a row and 12 of its last 13.

History 101: Bloomfield last advanced to the sectional finals in 2021. The Bombers have not won a sectional title in data dating back to 2009. Letchworth has one title in that timeframe coming in 2019 in Class C2. The Legends’ most recent appearance in the finals came in last season’s Class C1 final loss to Addison.

What’s at stake: A spot in the Class C Regional Qualifier on Tuesday against the winner of the Class C2 matchup between Dundee/Bradford and Caledonia-Mumford.
