Pittsford Sutherland, Honeoye Falls-Lima match up in Softball Class A final

For the third time this season, Pittsford Sutherland and Honeoye Falls-Lima match up against one another. One program is looking for its fourth championship in the past seven seasons. The other aims for a fourth title in the last five seasons. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Top-seeded Pittsford Sutherland defeated Wayne (7-2) and Mercy (11-1) to reach the Class A title game. Honeoye Falls-Lima beat Geneva (16-1) and Batavia (5-2) to reach the final.

Tempo and trends: Pittsford Sutherland scores 7.76 runs per game and allows 4.38. Honeoye Falls-Lima averages 7.0 runs scored while allowing 3.24 runs. The Knights are riding a six-game win streak. Honeoye Falls-Lima has won three of its last four.

History 101: For the third time this season, the Knights and Cougars match up, this time for the Class A title. Both teams have split, with Honeoye Falls-Lima winning the first contest 11-0 and Pittsford Sutherland taking the second by a 4-2 score. The Knights are looking for their fourth title in the last seven years with the most recent occurring in 2022. Honeoye Falls-Lima, the reigning Class A2 champion, aims for a fourth title in the last five seasons. The Cougars fell in the Far West Regional qualifier last season.

What’s at stake: A spot in the Class A Far West Regional against either Williamsville South or Iroquois.
