Two Livingston County rivals will meet to decide the Class C1 championship on Saturday. One team has won a sectional championship as recently as 2022, and the other has won five times in the past decade. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Letchworth defeated No. 12 Bloomfield via walkoff 6-5 in the opening round before beating No. 13 Warsaw 9-6 to earn a spot in the semifinals. A 9-1 win over top-seeded Gananda punched Letchworth’s ticket to the championship. Avon picked up an opening round 3-2 win over No. 2 Campbell-Savona before winning 11-3 over No. 10 East Rochester. In the semifinals, the Braves won 11-8 against No. 3 Northstar Christian.
Tempo and Trends: Letchworth scores 7.9 runs per game on offense and allows 4.8 runs per game defensively. Avon averaged 4.7 runs per game offensively and held teams on average to 8.4 runs per game on defense. The Legends have won seven of their past eight games, while the Braves have won three straight.

History 101: Letchworth won its first sectional championship as a program in 2022. Avon has won eight sectional titles, including five in the past 10 seasons. The two teams met twice during the regular season, with the Legends taking both games by scores of 7-4 and 6-1. In 2023, Avon defeated Letchworth 11-6 in the Class C1 quarterfinals.
What’s at stake: A spot in the Section V Class C Regional Qualifier against the winner of Bolivar-Richburg and Geneseo.
