For the first time in over a year, the Rochester Red Wings were left scoreless on Sunday, falling to the Buffalo Bisons, 17-0, to end their road trip. The Wings had scored at least one run in every game since game two of a doubleheader on April 8, 2023, at Syracuse, a streak of 150 games. The loss is the largest shutout defeat for Rochester since at least 1988.
The Red Wings trailed from the bottom of the first inning onward and only managed one hit all day: a Darren Baker single in the third. Baker, who also drew a walk, was 6-for-17 (.353) during the series with Buffalo, notching five RBI, six walks, and three stolen bases.
Buffalo scored early and often, putting up at least one run in six of the eight innings they batted. First baseman Spencer Horwitz went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two walks, while shortstop/third baseman Rafael Lantigua had a 2-for-5 day with four RBI. Second baseman Orelvis Martinez homered.
The loss sends the Red Wings back to .500 at 6-6, three games back of Scranton for the International League East lead.
After a Monday off, Rochester begins a homestand against Toledo on Tuesday. Right-hander Joan Adon is scheduled to start the series, with first pitch set for 6:05 P.M.

Not making too much out of the pummeling. Only counts as 1 loss and I believe losing 1-0 hurts more. On this day nothing the Wings did could have helped. Get back on the horse Tuesday!
So after 12 games we are .500. Given how they have gone since Washington took over, .500 is decent. Not good enough, but decent to not be buried early in the season. I don’t think the team is any kind of contender, but if they play well at home, that would be progress.
