Cook, Fehrenbach nab top Monroe County Girls’ honors

Leora Cook led Pittsford Sutherland to a 16-4 regular season record and the top seed in Class A. Rhylin Fehrenbach and Victor finished with a 19-1 mark and the number one seed in Class AA. The two were named Player of the Year for their respective divisions as announced by Monroe County League coaches.

Fehrenbach led Victor to win its first eight straight games. With that the Blue Devils moved up to fifth in the state rankings. Fehrenbach averaged 19.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, three assists and three steals per game on the season. Fehrenbach posted her best game in a rematch against Hilton on February 6th when she had 35 points and 21 rebounds. She topped the 30-point mark three times on the year.

Mallory Heise and Ella Clark from Hilton each grabbed First Team All-County spots. Macy Bacon and Kyleigh Chapman of Canandaigua also notched First Team spots as well. Cassidy Cone (Penfield), Sadie Scott (Brighton) and Bria Watkins (Webster Schroeder) rounded out First Team All-County for Division I.

Abbie Murphy from Victor grabbed Division I Defensive Player of the Year while Victor’s Ashley Zahn was named Division I Coach of the Year.

Cook led Sutherland as the Knights won 10 of their first 11 games. The point guard averaged 11.7 points, 2.3 assists and 3.1 steals per game. Cook earned First Team All-County in 2022-23.

Teammates Petra Hunt and Eden Lewis joined Cook on the Division II First Team All-County. Gabby Esposito and Natalie Mai from Pittsford Mendon earned First Team All-County honors as well. Lydia Childs (Brockport), Jorja Gray (Spencerport) and Caroline Smith (HF-L) also earned First Team honors.

Mollie Finn from HF-L grabbed Division II Defensive Player of the Year. Dan Judd from Pittsford Sutherland earned Division II Coach of the Year.
