In fact, they were only separated by one sectional point, with the difference being a 57-54 win by Byron-Bergen over Alexander in early January. Since then, the two schools have combined for a record of 20-3, and will meet once again in the Class C2 title game.

How they arrived here: Byron-Bergen started its sectional run by picking up a 69-37 quarterfinal win over No. 8 seed Eugenio Maria de Hostos. The Bees then rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit against No. 4 seed York in the Class C2 semifinals to earn a spot in the title game. Alexander defeated No. 15 seed Clyde-Savannah 75-44 in the first round before taking down No. 7 seed Cuba-Rushford 71-44 in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals, the Trojans pushed past No. 3 seed Bolivar-Richburg 52-49 to claim a spot in the title game.

History 101: Neither Byron-Bergen nor Alexander has ever won a sectional title. In 2023, Byron Bergen claimed the No. 2 seed and fell in overtime to Wheatland-Chili in the C3 semi-finals. Alexander was the No. 8 seed in C2 and fell in the quarterfinal round against eventual champion Pembroke.
