CLASS AAA

Shawn Goins and Clarence Thompson connected on back-to-back 3-pointers in overtime to cap a late rally as No.3 Franklin defeated No. 2 Fairport, 72-68 in Section V Class AAA semifinal action from Gates Chili High School. READ MORE.

Following a pair of Christian McCullough free throws, Jermelle Cotton’s pull-up jumper coming out of a timeout with 1:27 remaining in the game gave UPrep a lead it did not surrender at 56-55. READ MORE.

CLASS A

No. 4 MONROE (16-7) 37
No. 1 EAST (18-2) 57
Micah Johnson scored a game-high 16 points as East led every quarter of the game, booking a trip to the Class A finals. Zion Parson scored 15 points, while Markell Kingston-Johnson joined him in double digits with 10. Kesean Leonard and Kamell Little put up eight points each. Will McKinney led Monroe with 10 points. Daiquon McKinney (7), Marcus Freeman (7), Cam Miller (6), Tajmir Mullins (3), Anthony Davis (2), Ja’Ron Shears (1), and Jermaine Montgomery (1) rounded out scoring.

East faces Wayne at the Blue Cross Arena in the Class A sectional title game on Saturday.

No. 3 PITTSFORD SUTHERLAND (17-6) 34
No. 2 WAYNE (21-2) 44
Cam Blankenberg hit nine of 14 shots from the free throw line as he racked up 19 points for Wayne in their semifinals victory. Aidan Twist and Joshua Warner each had nine points, while PJ Ostrowski added five. Luke Fliss and Maximus Michalski were Sutherland’s scoring co-leaders, both with eight points. Dutch Pestorius (7), Jayden Morale (6), Jackson Birch (3), and Samuel Byrne (2) rounded out scoring for Sutherland.

Wayne will face East at the Blue Cross Arena in the Class A sectional title game on Saturday.

CLASS B1

No. 3 WORLD OF INQUIRY (10-12) 49

Mynderse plays Hornell in the Class B1 sectional title game on Friday at Blue Cross Arena.

No. 4 LIVONIA (11-11) 51
No. 1 HORNELL (19-3) 69
Gennaro Picco led Hornell with 22 points as he went five-for-six from the charity stripe in the Red Raiders’ semifinal victory. The Raiders led in every quarter of the game. Aaron McInerney (14), PJ Picco (13), and Xzaiver Patrick (10) all reached double-digits in scoring, with Wyatt Evingham (7) and Quinn Mauro (3) filling out the scoresheet. Thomas Stewart led all players by scoring 25 points for Livonia. Lucas Ray and Connor Feehan both put up nine points. Jackson Cook (4), Nicholas Coyle (2), and AJ Peri (2) also scored for Livonia.

Hornell plays Mynderse in the Class B1 sectional title game on Friday at Blue Cross Arena.

CLASS B2

No. 3 MARCUS WHITMAN (16-6) 44
No. 7 WELLSVILLE (9-14) 33
Down 29-27 with one quarter to play, Myles Prendergast and Brody Royston each scored eight points in the fourth as the Wildcats outscored Wellsville 17-4 to win their class semifinals. Prendergast and Royston led Marcus Whitman with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Tariku Blueye put up six points, while Melkamu Blueye added a point of his own. JJ Howard led Wellsville with 10 points, while Aiden Cowburn and Tyler Vogel had seven each. Trenton Green (4), Cooper Brockway (3), and Karson Grover (2) rounded out scoring.

With the win, Marcus Whitman advances to the Class B2 sectional finals this Friday at the Blue Cross Arena against Avon.
