Sienna Fallone sparked Aquinas Institute to a top seed in Class A. Grace Kearney helped Northstar Christian to a No. 2 seed in Class D. Gabriella Grieder led Bishop Kearney/Chesterton/Archangel to a fifth seed in Class C1. The trio garnered top honors as selected by the coaches of the Private-Parochial League.
Fallone was named the 2023 Division I Private-Parochial Player of the Year.
Aquinas claimed the sectional title off the back of Fallone’s efforts. The ninth grade midfielder averaged 1.15 goals per game in an offense that averaged 2.9 per game. The ninth-grader tallied 23 goals and 15 assists on the season and led her team in both categories. Fallone’s 61 points tied her 16th overall in Section V.
Fallone scored in 15 out of the 20 games during the whole season for the Li’l Irish. Fallone’s season-high was a hat trick against Greece Olympia in a 6-1 win which she also added two assists. She then matched her season high against Bishop Kearney/Chesterton/Archangel having a hat trick in the 4-1 win. Fallone also added five more multi-goal games, she scored two times against Holley in a 5-0 win, she scored twice in wins versus, Sacred Heart, Palmyra-Macedon and Byron-Bergen. Fallone’s final multi-goal game of the season came in a rematch with Greece Olympia during sectionals which helped AQ to a 3-0 win.
Fallone finished with two game winners on the season. Both occurring in back-to-back games. The first came in a 1-0 win against Pittsford Mendon, then two days later in a 1-0 win against Greece Athena she buried the game winner.
In sectionals, Fallone showed up as well, she tallied three goals and four assists in the whole sectional tournament. The four assists came in their first game in sectionals against Honeoye Falls-Lima where the Li’l Irish cruised to a 5-0 win. She added two goals in the next round in a 3-0 win over Greece Olympia. Fallone then opened up scoring in the sectional final against Pittsford Sutherland where the Li’l Irish claimed the sectional title with a 2-0 win.
Teammates Liz Tantalo, Talia Norton, Molly O’Toole, Samantha Marmo, Giulianna Tomaszewski and Bella Muratore joined Fallone on the All-League First Team. Tantalo the goalkeeper for the Li’l Irish was joined by parts of her back line in Norton, O’Toole and Marmo. The defense of the Lil’ Irish gave up only seven goals all season and had 13 shutouts. During sectionals, Aquinas did not let up a goal. Tomaszewski a midfield partner to Fallone added in three goals and two assists.
To round out the Division I First Team from Our Lady of Mercy it was Isabella Mitrano, Julia D’Anza, Elizabeth DeHond, Zosima Ciardi and Emma Prota. Mitrano had five shutouts in net on the season.
Kearney and Grieder were named 2023 Division II Co-Players of the Year.
Kearney finished sixth in Section V with 83 points. The junior forward accounted for 33 goals and 17 assists on the season as Northstar posted an unbeaten mark (8-0-0) in league play and 14-2 overall in the regular season. She netted a hat trick and added two assists in an 8-0 win over Eastridge and had a goal as NCA topped rival C.G. Finney, 4-0 to close the regular season.
Teammates Katelyn Demarest and Lydia Demarest joined Kearney on the First Team. Katelyn Demarest finished the season with 18 goals and six assists. Lydia Demarest had four assists playing out of the backline for Northstar.
Grieder scored a team-high 17 goals and added four assists for BK/Chesterton/Archangel. The junior midfielder had two goals and two assists in season-opening win over Mount St. Mary of Buffalo’s Monsignor Martin Athletic Association. She added two more goals in a 5-2 win over C.G. Finney.
Teammates Katie O’Gara, Grace McMullen and Ella Lester joined Grieder on the First Team. O’Gara contributed five goals and 12 assists to BK’s offense.
Allie Frederickson and Kiara van der Jagt represented Finney on the Division II First Team. Frederickson had 10 goals and 10 assists on the season. van der Jagt paced the Falcons’ offense with 16 goals while adding four assists.
Lima Christian’s Abigail Britton, Lydia Harrington, Alyssa Marsh and Megan Sanders rounded out the First Team. Britton scored one goal and added two assists. Harrington accounted for three goals and a helper. Marsh had seven goals and three assists. Sanders contributed three assists.
