After being held to six points in the first quarter of action, No. 1 seed Monroe found the endzone four times in the second quarter on route to a 42-0 win over No. 4 seed Wayne in the Section V Class B semifinals.
Nazhier Wilson started off the second quarter of play with a bang for Monroe, running the ball 25 yards into the endzone and also converting the two-point try to make it 14-0. After Wayne was forced to a three-and-out, Robert Arnold disrupted the fake punt attempt and scooped the ball up running it back for a touchdown, and Tajhmir Mullins added a two-point conversion to make it 22-0. Messiah Hampton was on the receiving end of a 20-yard touchdown pass from Khaya Moses to make it 28-0, and Arnold scored his second touchdown of the quarter when he caught a short pass from Moses and took it 36 yards to the endzone just before the half ended to make it 34-0 heading into the break.
Mullins scored the first touchdown of the game for the Red Jackets on a 23-yard run about halfway through the first quarter. Moses threw another touchdown on a deep ball to Landon McKnight from 38 yards out with just under six minutes left in the 4th quarter. Moses completed the following two-point try on a pass to Amari Colin to bring the game to its final score of 42-0.
Moses finished the game completing 10 of 14 passes for 179 yards. Colon hauled in three balls for 69 yards. Hampton had three catches for 35 yards. Mullins ran the ball 11 times for 119 yards and had six tackles on defense. Wilson got three carries and turned it into 41 yards. Defensively, Dashon Constatine brought down the quarterback twice on his way to six tackles. Arnold had five tackles and a sack. Jermaine Montgomery tallied five tackles.
Monroe advances to play second-seeded Honeoye Falls-Lima in the Class B Championship. The two met early in the regular season, with Monroe grabbing a 54-6 victory on the road. The game will take place on Saturday, November 11th, at SUNY Brockport. The game is slated for an 8:00 pm kickoff.
