Behind a pair of three-runs innings, the Rochester Red Wings collected their second straight victory over the Scranton Wilkes/Barre Rairiders, 6-4 Saturday evening.
Scranton jumped on the Red Wings early with a three-run home run from Franchy Cordero in the first inning.
Rochester wasn’t able to get to the Railrider’s starter Mitch Spence until the sixth inning where they were able to tie the game. The comeback began when Rochester executed a double-steal where Luis Garcia stole second for his first of the year and Darren Baker stole home for the first run for Rochester. Richie Martin tallied a two run two out base loaded base hit to tie the game for the Red Wings.

The following inning, Rochester scored another three runs to give them a lead they never gave back. Jake Noll and Drew Millas drove in runs with a base hit to give Rochester a two run lead. Noll’s base hit was driven to right field and scored Baker. Millas’ came with one out in the inning on a line drive to left field to score Garcia. Jack Dunn hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the third run for the Red Wings.
Michael Hermosillo scored the final run for Scranton in the eighth on a force out that scored Andres Chaparro.
Wily Peralta was on the mound for Rochester and struck out four in five innings of work. Peralta surrendered three runs on five hits and two walks. Rochester used four pitchers out of the bullpen to finish the contest. Hobie Harris earned the win out of the pen while pitching an inning and a third striking out two and walking one. Gerson Moreno earned his eighth save with a clean ninth inning with two strikeouts.
Rochester is currently two and a half games behind four teams tied for first place in the second half of the season.
The Rochester Red Wings (17-15, 51-54) will look for the series split in the series finale against the Scranton Wilkes/Barre Railriders (15-15, 49-55) Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Starting pitchers for both teams are to be announced.
