Noah Limuti and Ryan Sullivan both smacked two hits, part of a 12-run onslaught as Penfield Little League captured the Section 1 Little League title and advanced to the 11u State Tournament with a 12-0 win over Wellsville Little League on Saturday.
Limuti went 2-for-4 with a double in the fifth and a run scored. Sullivan went 2-for-2, driving in one in the fourth and scoring later in the frame. Penfield tallied six runs in the fourth.
Landon Gaura, Greyson McCormick and CJ Spadafora all tallied RBI knocks in the inning. Gaura, McCormick and Spadafora each went 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.
McCormick hurled a complete game two-hit shutout on the mound for Penfield, striking out nine while walking two. Six of the first 12 outs were recorded via the punch out.
Ambrose Valentini doubled in Ty Hooge in the sixth and scored the game’s first run in the top of the first. Hooge drove in a run in the fourth and finished 1-for-2.
Noah Bolt and Braden Struzik both tallied singles to round out the hit column for Penfield. Bolt drove in the first Penfield run and singled to lead off the six-run fourth frame. Struzik scored in the fourth and sixth.
Penfield clinched the District title on Monday with an 11-0 win over Victor to advance to the Sectional tournament. In the best-of-three sectional tournament, Penfield went 2-0 and outscored its opponents 24-2.
Penfield Little League advances to the 11u NYS tournament next weekend at Throgs Neck Little League in the Bronx, N.Y.
