NBA Summer League Recap: Former UPrep star Williams contributes for Portland Trailblazers

Rochester native and former University Prep Charter star Jeenathan Williams contributed for the Portland Trailblazers in the NBA Summer League this week.

In the Blazers’ win over the Orlando Magic on Thursday, Williams played 15 minutes off the bench, scoring six points and grabbing four rebounds.

Williams, a former University at Buffalo standout, and the Blazers face the Miami Heat on Sunday at 8 p.m. in the summer league consolation round.

Jalen Pickett

The former Aquinas Institute and Rochester native tallied 12 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three blocks in the Denver Nuggets’ summer league loss to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.

On Friday in Denver’s win over the Heat, Pickett scored 11 points, four assists, a steal and a block.

Pickett and the Nuggets face the New York Knicks today at 8:30 p.m. in the summer league consolation round.

ST. BONAVENTURE

Osun Osunniyi

The former Bonnies men’s basketball standout got some playing time with the Washington Wizards on Friday.

Osunniyi played 12 minutes off the bench in the Wizards’ win over the Thunder, scoring a bucket and recording six rebounds in his effort.

Osunniyi and the Wizards take on the Chicago Bulls today at 5 p.m. in the summer league consolation round.

SYRACUSE

Elijah Hughes

The Syracuse men’s basketball alum started for the Orlando Magic in their matchup against the Indiana Pacers on Monday.

In the Magic’s loss to the Pacers, Hughes scored 14 points, recorded three assists and a steal.

Hughes and the Magic go up against the Boston Celtics today at 6:30 p.m. in the summer league consolation round.

Cole Swider

Swider, a former standout for the Syracuse men’s basketball team, had 14 points, six boards and a steal in the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the Celtics on Wednesday.

In the Lakers’ loss to the Memphis Grizzles on Friday, Swider finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and a steal.

Swider and the Lakers face the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday at 10 p.m. in the summer league consolation round.

Buddy Boeheim

The Syracuse men’s basketball alum scored five points in the Detroit Pistons’ win over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.

On Friday in the Pistons’ victory over the San Antonio Spurs, Boeheim hit a lone three-pointer in his effort.

The Pistons take on the Pacers on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in the summer league consolation round.

Alan Griffin

Griffin, an alum of the Syracuse men’s basketball team, tallied four points in the Milwaukee Bucks’ loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday.

Griffin and the Bucks face the Sacramento Kings today at 4:30 p.m. in the summer league consolation round.

CORNELL

Matt Morgan

The former Cornell men’s basketball star scored 10 points in the Clippers’ win over the Kings on Monday.

On Friday in the Clippers’ victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, Morgan had six points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.

The Clippers go up against the Lakers on Sunday at 10 p.m. in the summer league consolation round.
