Rochester native Jalen Pickett turned in double-digit efforts in his first couple of games for the Denver Nuggets in NBA Summer League action over the weekend.
On Friday in Denver’s loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, Pickett finished with 12 points, six boards, five assists and three steals.
Pickett then tied with teammates Hunter Tyson and Collin Gillespie for most points scored (16) in the Nuggets’ loss to the Hawks on Sunday. Pickett also had five assists, two steals and a block in his effort for Denver.
A graduate of Aquinas Institute, Pickett played three seasons at Siena College and a year at Penn State. He was selected 32nd by the Nuggets in this year’s NBA Draft.
Pickett and the Nuggets will face the Utah Jazz at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Jeenathan Williams
Williams, a Rochester native and University Prep Charter graduate, has played just nine minutes between Portland Trail Blazers’ Summer League matchups against the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs over the weekend. He recorded a bucket and grabbed three rebounds in two games for the Blazers.
A standout on the University at Buffalo men’s basketball squad, Williams went undrafted in last year’s NBA draft. He joined the Utah Jazz at last year’s NBA Summer League season, then played for NBA G-League affiliate Salt Lake City Stars. Williams signed with the Blazers on April 1.
Williams and the Blazers take on the Charlotte Hornets at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
ST. BONAVENTURE
Osun Osunniyi
The Bonnies men’s basketball alumnus did not make an appearance in the Washington Wizards’ first two games of the NBA Summer League season.
Osunniyi and the Wizards go up against the San Antonio Spurs at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
CORNELL
Matt Morgan
A star on the Cornell University men’s basketball team, Morgan played for the Toronto Raptors during the 2019 NBA Summer League season. He went on to play for the G-League’s Raptors 905 for a couple of seasons. Morgan joined the Clippers’ Summer League squad in early July.
Morgan and the Clippers face the Sacramento Kings today at 10:30 p.m.
SYRACUSE
Cole Swider
Swider tallied 19 points in the Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the Golden State Warriors on Friday. His effort included being 5-of-8 from 3-point range.
On Sunday in the Lakers’ win over the Hornets, Swider finished with eight points, eight boards, a steal and a block.
Swider played three seasons for the Villanova University men’s basketball team then transferred to Syracuse University for the 2021-22 season. After being unselected in the 2022 NBA Draft, Swider signed a two-way contract, splitting time between the Lakers and their G-League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. He was also on the Lakers’ Summer League roster in 2022.
The Lakers take on the Celtics at 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Buddy Boeheim
Boeheim went a combined 6-of-7 from beyond the arc for a total of 18 points in the Detroit Pistons’ Summer League contests against the Magic and the Rockets.
It’s the second-straight year that Boeheim has been on the Pistons’ Summer League squad. A Syracuse University men’s basketball alum, he went undrafted in 2022 then signed a two-way contract to split time between the Pistons and their G-League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise.
The Pistons face the Raptors at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
