One squad is looking for its sixth sectional title since 2009 and to avenge a championship final defeat last season. Another is looking for its first in program history. Rush-Henrietta and Victor meet at Webster Schroeder High School on Saturday. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Top-seeded Rush-Henrietta downed No. 8 Greece Athena/Olympia/Odyssey and No. 5 Brighton to reach the title game. Victor defeated No. 6 Hilton and No. 2 Webster Schroeder to reach its second straight Class AA title game.

Tempo and trends: Rush-Henrietta averages 9.14 runs per game and allows 3.55. The Royal Comets enter having won eight straight and 12 of their last 13. Victor scores 7.68 runs per game and allows 3.45. The Blue Devils have won four straight games.
What’s at Stake: A spot in the NYS Class AA Far West Regional against the Section VI champion.
History 101: Rush-Henrietta is looking for its first sectional title in program history. The Royal Comets reached the Class AA Section V semifinals in 2022. Victor is looking to win its sixth sectional title since 2009, tied for second in Section V in that time frame having won five titles over the past 13 seasons (2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic). The Blue Devils enter the Class AA final looking to avenge a loss in the 2022 final to Fairport the season prior. In 2018, Victor captured the Class AA NYS title, defeating Section II champion Ballston Spa by a 7-1 score. The two squads faced off twice in the regular season with Victor winning both games.
