Haden Abbott scattered six hits in a complete game shutout to lead Avoca-Prattsburgh (8-1) past Canisteo-Greenwood (2-2), 7-0. Abbott struck out 11 batters and improved to 5-0 on the season.
At the plate for A-P, Jamel Crowder, Josiah Stillson (two hits, two stolen bases) and Connor Hammond each collected an RBI in the first inning for a 4-0 lead. A-P tacked on a fifth run in the second when Macoy Putnam singled, stole a base and scored on a wild pitch.
Crowder also finished with two hits, two RBI and scored twice for A-P, Abbott had a hit, scored two runs and stole two bases, Sawyer Devoe collected a hit and scored and James Forte added a single.
Canisteo-Greenwood’s Noah Warriner and Taige Stewart combined to strike out 15 batters and allowed just eight hits. Stewart doubled for C-G while Korbyn Osterwald, Warriner, Evan Sarvis and Matt Streeter had hits.
