Breanna Majors-Brown (Wilson Magnet) earned 2022-23 Rochester City Athletic Conference (RCAC) Player of The Year honors as selected by league coaches. The senior captain finished ninth in Section V for points per game at 20.5.
Majors-Brown finished the season with 308 points. The senior guard’s offensive spurts included two 21-point games, a pair of 24-point efforts and 29-point outputs on two more occasions. On December 15th, the senior captain exploded with a 31-point performance at Northstar Christian Academy. Although the game resulted in a loss, this performance helped cap off a 55-point week for Majors-Brown. Her 29-point games occurred on February 14th and 15th, the final games before sectionals.
The senior duo of Jazlynn Logan and Maya Williams led School of the Arts to an appearance in the sectional semi-final. Gabriela Lopez led Edison Tech to an abundance of double digit victories. Jaylen Giles and Gabriella Brown-Sturdviant combined for 596 points this season to help lead the East Eagles to an appearance in sectional semi-finals.
Logan and Williams were named First Team for School of the Arts. Logan, the 2021-22 RCAC Player of the Year, led the Silverhawks with 386 points, averaging 20.3 points and 4.2 assists per game. The senior also recorded a double-double on the road against Franklin on February 13th. She finished the game with 18 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds. Williams exploded this season for the Silverhawks leading the offense with 15 double-doubles. This offensive surge came with five-game and six-game streaks of double-doubles in the the final 12 games of the season. The senior totaled 331 points, averaging 17.4 points and 2.2 assists per game. The 5-foot-10 center led the team in rebounds with 227, averaging 11.9 per game. The senior captains performances helped lead the Silverhawks to an appearance in sectional semi-finals.
Lopez of Edison Tech also earned First Team honors this season. The junior guard led the team with 342 points, averaging 17.1 points per game. She also averaged 3.4 boards per game and 1.5 assists. Lopez recorded back to back double doubles which occurred on January 11th against Wilson Magnet and January 18th against Greece Arcadia/Olympia. She combined for 34 points (17 points each game), 14 assists, 18 rebounds, and a steal which led her team to two wins at home. Lopez dropped a 35-point performance against Franklin which led her team to a 68-36 win on the road to start the new year.
Giles and Brown-Sturdviant of the East Eagles rounded out the First Team roster. Brown-Sturdviant totaled 326 points, averaging 16.3 points per game. She finished the season averaging 4.1 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.8 steals per game. The 5-foot-6 sophomore put up a season high 30-point performance on December 8th against Pittsford Mendon. Giles finished with 270 points, averaging 16.3 points per game. She also averaged 2.7 rebounds and assists with 1.5 steals a game. The senior captain recorded a season high 35-point performance on February 21st in the sectional quarterfinal game against the Spencerport Rangers. Along with her 35 points, she totaled four assists, three rebounds, and four steals to lead East to a 76-49 victory and a trip to the semi-finals. Giles (2) and Brown-Sturdviant (6) combined for eight double doubles this season. Both recorded their first of the year on December 7th against Wilson Magnet to lead the Eagles to a 92-29 victory on opening night at home.
