Parker Farnham guided Churchville-Chili to the top seed in Class B while leading Section V in points. Max Pitts led all Section V goalies in shutouts, goals against average, and save percentage to help Victor register the No. 2 seed in Class A. Will Masaschi spearheaded the Pittsford offense to a No. 4 seed in the Section V Class A playoffs.
Pitts and Masaschi took home Hockey Coaches Association of New York (HCANY) Division I All-State First Team honors. Masaschi led the Panthers in scoring (37 points in 20 games played), goals (17), and assists (20). The senior forward had 11 multi-point efforts during the season and recorded his 100 career point against Spartan Hockey on January 31. Pitts lead all of Section V in wins (16 in 20 games played), goals against average (1.02), save percentage (.946), and shutouts (6). The junior netminder played over 1000 minutes between the pipes for the Blue Devils. Pitts recorded a four game shutout streak between December 6 and December 22.
Pittsford’s head coach Steve Thering claimed his first HCANY Coach of the Year honors. Thering entered his 16th season as the Panthers head coach claiming his seventh sectional title in as many finals appearances and reached his fifth final four appearance. His all time record with Pittsford is 240-93-26-3.
Evan Kopacz (McQuaid), Michael Peluso (Victor), and Mikey Valent (Spartan Hockey) laid claim to Hockey Coaches Association of New York Division I All-State Second Team honors. Kopacz led the Knights with 32 points in 20 games played during the season. Peluso lead the way in the assists department for the Blue Devils with 19 helpers. Valent produced the most goals in section V during the regular season with 32 tallies.
Simon Kowal (Victor), Jameson Motyka (Batavia/Notre Dame), and Drew McCandless (Victor) picked up Hockey Coaches Association of New York Division I Honorable Mentions for their play this season.
Farnham claimed the lone Section V Hockey Coaches Association of New York Division II All-State First Team honors. The sophomore forward led all of Section V in scoring with 50 points in 20 games this season. Farnham finished with the second most goals in Section V with 28. The sophomore tallied his 100th career point in a 9-4 victory against the Portside Royals on January 26. Farnham registered five or more points in four separate games including back-to-back five points performances on January 24 and 26.
Farnham’s teammate Gavin Carr claimed Hockey Coaches Association of New York Division II All-State Second Team honors. Carr finished the regular season with 27 points which included 11 powerplay assists for the Saints.
Goaltenders Jackson Gruttadauria (Webster Thomas) and Andrew Gatti (Aquinas) received Hockey Coaches Association of New York Division II Honorable Mentions for this season.
