CLASS AA

Griffen Hopkins led three in double figures with a career-high 21 points including 11 in the fourth quarter when Victor pulled away. Clinging to a 43-41 lead heading into the final eight minutes, Hopkins scored seven in a 9-2 run to open the final stanza. READ MORE.

IRONDEQUOIT (21-4) 51
Over the years, Irondequoit basketball has been known for its stingy defense.  The Eagles defense lived up to their reputation in the waning moments of Saturday’s Class A Far West Regional. Chris Cardon’s squad prevented visiting Amherst of Section VI from scoring on its last four possessions, while getting single free throws from Ryan Heath and Azavier Ross in the last 13 seconds of regulation to survive and advance to the New York State semi-finals. FREDONIA (VI) 58
NEWARK (21-4) 66 OT
Brayden Steve unloaded a deep three-pointer as time expired to force overtime and scored six points in the extra stanza as Newark claimed its spot in the Class B state semifinal. Steve had a game-high 25 points, including five 3-pointers and going a perfect 4-4 at the line in overtime to secure the win for Newark. READ MORE.

CLASS C

RANDOLPH (VI) 57
LYONS (24-2) 47
Jacob Sides and JC Walker combined for 27 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Lyons boys’ basketball team. Sides connected on a trio of 3-pointers in the first quarter. The senior guard’s second shot from distance in the opening stanza pulled the Lions within three at 14-11. READ MORE.

AVOCA-PRATTSBURGH (23-2) 67
Sawyer Devoe and Haden Abbott combined for 39 points as Avoca/Prattsburgh emphatically cemented their return to the state semifinal. READ MORE.
