Thursday Wrap: Springer tallies hat trick for WFL; Victor extends winning streak

TUESDAY’S GAMES

CANANDAIGUA (2-8-1) 3
CHURCHVILLE-CHILI (9-1-1) 5
Four straight goals help Churchville-Chili extend its winning streak to four games. Jesse Prue, Max McKay, and Parker Farnham all scored in the first period for the Saints. Tyler Eberhart added the fourth goal early in the second period. Henry Van Laeken scored the first Braves goal to cut in the Saints’ lead. DJ Spychalski scored the second Braves goal to bring them within two at the 5:20 mark of the final period. Evan Martin put Churchville-Chili back up by three with his first varsity goal in the third. Jed Smith scored his third goal of the season to bring the Braves back to within two.

PORTSIDE ROYALS (7-3-1) 2
GREECE STORM (5-6-0) 5
Jack Pilgram’s two-goal performance helped the Greece Storm win its second straight game. Greece took a 3-0 lead late into the second period. Jayden Gargana, Aidan Candalari, and Pilgram scored the goals. Liam McGrath got Portside on the board late in the second period. Spencer Griffin put the Storm back up by three with 10 minutes remaining in the third period. Henry Shultz scored for Portside to cut the lead back down to two again. Pilgram scored his second goal with an empty netter to secure the victory for Greece.

PENFIELD (5-5-0) 1
SPARTAN HOCKEY (6-4-1) 4
Four unanswered goals propelled Spartan Hockey. Sean Walsh opened the scoring for Penfield at the 5:39 mark of the first period. Mikey Valent started the Spartans scoring with two goals. His first one came late in the first period while his second marker came around the halfway point of the second. Both goals were unassisted. Jack Everts scored the last goal. Both of his goals came in the third period. The goals were his first two on the season. Mason Wright and Mason Davey assisted on Evert’s goals. Keegan Waldo made 27 saves for the Spartans.

VICTOR (8-1-0) 4
PITTSFORD (8-3-1) 1
Simon Kowal contributed two goals en route to Victor’s seventh straight victory. Kowal found the back of the net twice in the first period within two minutes. His second goal came short-handed. Asher Erwin extended the Blue Devil’s lead to three on the powerplay. Will Masaschi scored the lone Pittsford goal to cut into Victor’s lead. Tanner Radogna added an empty net goal in the last second of the game.

WFL PANTHERS (3-7-0) 6
GENESEO/AVON/LIVONIA (3-10-0) 3
Four goals in the second period propelled the WFL Panthers to their second win in a row. Lucas Springer tallied a hat trick in the four-goal second. Clark Mauchly scored the other goal in the second. Jared Bishop scored his first varsity goal for Geneseo/Avon/Livonia in the second period to tie the game at one. Christian Rumfola and Joey Cinquino pulled the Lakers within one early in the third period. Ryan Brown and Isaac Pundt added on the Panther’s lead to seal the victory.

IRONDEQUOIT (0-10-0) 1
WEBSTER THOMAS (4-4-3) 3
Two second-period goals helped Webster Thomas get its first win since December 7. Jason Tucker scored the first Titan’s goal early in the second. Ethan Stappenbeck scored the other second-period goal. Dylan Carey scored a late goal in the period for Irondequoit to cut the lead in half. Nick Gruttadauria scored his first varsity goal by adding an empty netter.

MCQUAID (8-1-0) 3
WEBSTER SCHROEDER (7-5-0) 0
Two third-period goals secure McQuaid’s second straight shutout victory. Lou Zaari opened the scoring in the second period with his first varsity goal. Evan Kopacz and Drew Palmer scored the two third-period goals for the Knights.

BRIGHTON/HFL (8-5-0) 4
FAIRPORT (4-5-3) 3
Shawn Oelheim’s early second-period goal was the difference maker to get Brighton/HFL back in the win column. Brighton and Fairport traded the first four goals of the game. Trevor Reese got the Bruins on the board 58 seconds into the game. Nate Russo tied the game four minutes later. Alex Goldan 30 seconds later gave the Red Raiders the lead. Nolan Gangarosa tied the game at two under two minutes later with an assist from Braydn Trybuskiewicz. Peter Burslem gave Brighton its second lead of the first period with under two minutes to go. Oelheim’s goal came 19 seconds into the second to give the Bruins a two-goal lead. Russo scored his second goal of the game three minutes into the third to cut the deficit to one.

Collin Trapiss led WFL with a hat trick. It’s the second game in a row that a Panther recorded a hat trick. Lucas Springer tallied a four point performance. Isaac Pundt and Clark Mauchly found the back of the net. Dylan Carey scores twice for the Eagles in the defeat. Sam Cane assisted on Carey’s second goal.
