Maeve Brennan opened the season with a double-double for Irondequoit, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, leading the Eagles. Ella Brennan added nine points and eight rebounds, while a total of eight players scored for Irondequoit. Elizabeth Tytler (six points, three rebounds, four steals) and Aubrey Smith (five points, five assists, four rebounds, five steals) both stuffed the stat sheet for the Eagles, and Erin Terioglu (5), Maddie Thore (3), Julia Jaeger (2) and Chloe Erne (1) added points as well. Batavia’s Anna Varland was the game-high scorer with 13 points and teammates Julia Preston (7), Julia Petry (3), Isabella Walsh (2) and Jaimin Macdonald (2) rounded out the scoring for the Blue Devils

Alayna Garwood scored 30 points to go along with 15 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the Knights in their season opener.

Mynderse got out to a 25-2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back en route to a season opening victory. Maddie Verkey scored 20 points and dished out five assists to lead Mynderse, and teammates Haley Mosch (10) Lauren McDermott (8) and Kelly Kohberger (8) all helped fill the bucket in the Mynderse win. Bella Ferrara (7), Chelsea Korzeniewski (6), Ella Wirth (6) and Jeniya Fils (4) also scored for the Blue Devils. Briella Commisso and Emily Record both scored five points for Red Jacket while Brooklyn Vienna (4), Sarah English (4) and Leah Batterson (2) also contributed.

East Rochester wasted little time getting their 2022-23 season off to a good start, ending the first quarter with a 20-2 lead and cruised to a season opening victory. Zarrian Eldridge was one of four Bombers in double figures as she totaled 18 points on the night. Emma Romach (15), Aniyah Eldridge (11) and Lily Funk (10) all chipped in on offense.

In a tale of two halves, Haverling got out to a first quarter lead (13-4), only to see Geneseo comeback in the second half and outscore the Rams 27-15 and pick up their second win of the season. Haverling’s Meredith Czajkowski led both teams with 19 points, while Mary Claire Rollins netted 13 for the Blue Devils. “Defensively I was happy only giving up 21 points through 3 quarters,” remarked Haverling Girls’ Head Coach Randy Abrams. “But offensively in the second and third quarters we just stopped scoring so we couldn’t open up a very big lead. Geneseo ramped up their pressure in the 4th quarter and we didn’t respond well. They are very athletic.” Emma Luckenbauch (8), Madison Coots (3) and Lola Coots (2) rounded out the Haverling scoring, while Maddie Mark (9), Caroline Capel (8), Morgan Wolcott (5), Lara Moviee (2) and Emily Lamb (2) netted points for Geneseo.

HUTCHINSON CENTRAL TECH (VI) 41
Izzy Breeden netted three 3-pointers in the first quarter and helped pace Pembroke to a 30-20 lead at halftime. Breeden hit four triples on the night and finished with 18 points. Olivia Breeden led all scorers with 21 while finishing with eight steals. Karli Houseknecht added 11 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists. Elle Peterson and Onolee Easterbrook led Pembroke with seven rebounds apiece. Peterson scored six. Easterbrook had four points. Seneca Calderon had three assists and two points. Carly Cerasini had seven points. Rylee Seelay and Jada Everett both scored two points. Hutch Tech closed to within four in the third quarter (32-28), but Pembroke broke open the game in the fourth quarter outscoring Hutch, 24-5.

Riley Powell was one of five to score in double figures, leading Alexander with 21 points. Madison Boyce (17), Melanie Pohl (12), Alyssa Kramer (12) and Emily Pietrzykowski (10) rounded out Alexander’s top scorers. The Trojans also received points from Makenna Boyce (2), Laurel Kania (2), Madison Bezon (2) and Parker Wolfley (1).

Corinna Dunn led three in double figures with 14 points to pace Le Roy. Lindsey Steffenilla and Zharia Newton added 13 and 10 points to the effort. Abby ALlen (9), Kenna MacKenzie (8), Zoey Humphrey (2) and Rachel Smith (2) also scored for the Oatkan Knights. Wayland-Cohocton’s Mackenzie Pickard finished with eight points, 12 rebounds, two blocks and three steals. Kaitlyn had six points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Payton Chizuk contributed six points, two assists and two rebounds. Brooke Lander (5) and Grace Bondgren (3) also scored for the Eagles.
