Palmyra-Macedon will try to win its fourth championship in seven years while the Aquinas Li’l Irish will look to hoist the trophy for the first time since 2017. The Red Raiders will take on the Li’l Irish Friday night with the 2022 Section V Class B1 championship up for grabs. Here’s what you need to know:

How they got here: Palymyra-Macedon (No. 2 NYSSWA Class B) advanced to the Class B semifinals with its victory over No. 8 Waterloo 3-1. Maya Ikewood’s goal was the difference in the Red Raiders’ 1-0 win over No. 4 Livonia. Aquinas defeated two straight, higher-seeded opponents in No. 3 Greece Olympia and No. 2 Batavia by comfortable scores of 4-1 and 3-0.

Last time they met: The two met once during the regular season on September 19 at Aquinas with the Red Raiders sneaking past the Li’l Irish 1-0.

Trends: Palmyra-Macedon has won twelve out of its last thirteen games with the other result being a tie. In the Red Raiders past twelve games, they have only given up one goal. Aquinas is on a three-game win streak against Class B1 opponents and has never given up more than two goals in a game.

History 101: Palmyra-Macedon is looking for its second straight Class B1 title and fourth in the last seven years. A win would give the Red Raiders their seventh sectional championship overall and sixth in Class B1. Aquinas is seeking its 10th title in Class B1 and fifteen sectional championship. AQ’s last championship came in 2017.
A 7:30 p.m. kickoff is scheduled at Webster Thomas High School.
