In their first series since the All-Star break, the Rochester Red Wings were swept by divisional rival Buffalo.
Buffalo bested the Wings 1-0 Sunday afternoon to complete the three-game series sweep.
Colton Shaver hit a solo home run for the game’s only run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Buffalo recorded five more hits in the game Sunday.
Rochester’s offense mustered five hits. Designated hitter Riley Adams registered three of the Wings’ five hits on Sunday. Joey Meneses and Josh Palacios collected the other two hits for Rochester.
Palacios has extended his on-base streak to 27 games with the base hit on Sunday. The former Bison also extended his hitting streak to now a season-best 14 games – the the longest active hitting streak in the International League. He is the first Red Wing to reach a 24- game on-base streak since Drew Maggi back in 2019.

Cory Abbott pitched four innings in his start for Rochester. The right-hander gave up the lone run on five hits and one walk. He struck out three Bisons on Sunday. Jefry Rodriguez, Alberto Baldonado, and Mason Thompson came into relief for Rochester. The bullpen combined for seven strikeouts Sunday afternoon. Four came from Rodriguez in his two innings of work out of the pen.
Buffalo used eight pitchers in its shutout win over the Wings. The eight pitchers fanned eight Red Wings batters.
The series sweep drops Rochester to fifth place in the IL East Division. The Red Wings sit 3.5 games back from first place in the division.
Rochester returns home to take on another division opponent in the Scranton Wilkes/Barre Railriders. The series begins Tuesday, July 26 with the first pitch at 7:05.
