Palmyra-Macedon looks to remain unbeaten in Class B Far West Regional against Medina (VI)

The Section V Class B winner Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders bring a perfect 23-0 record into their matchup with the Medina Mustangs of Section VI. The game is set for a 2:00 first pitch, Saturday, June 4th at Monroe Community College. Here is the breakdown:

MEDINA MUSTANGS (21-3/Niagara-Orleans)
vs.
PALMYRA-MACEDON RED RAIDERS (23-0/Finger Lakes East)
2:00 PM Saturday, June 4th, at MCC

How they arrived here: Medina took down JFK, Eden, Southwestern, Roy-Hart, and DePew on its way to regionals. Pal-Mac beat Newark, Aquinas, Batavia and Haverling. 

Tempo and Trends: Medina averages 7.1 runs and holds opponents to 1.5 runs per game. The Mustangs have won 12 straight. Pal-Mac scores 10.4 times and only gives up one run per game on average. The two teams have one common opponent in Batavia. Medina edged the Blue Devils, 5-4 in early April. 

What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class A semifinals.

History 101: This is the first time Pal-Mac has reached regionals. Section V Class B teams have won two Far West Regional games in the past five. Livonia advanced in both 2015 and 2017. The 2017 Bulldog squad went on to win the NYS title. Medina won the 2019 regional – the last time the game was played. The past two state tournaments have been postponed due to concerns surrounding Covid-19.
