Imagine RIT Wednesday Softball Wrap: Putnam strikes out 16 in Avoca/Prattsburgh win; DeVore and DeMarco lead Cal-Mum

Maddy DeVore was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI to lead Cal-Mum which held off a pair of late York rallies.  Avery DeMarco went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Monty Kessler collected two RBI in the win. Emma Years struck out four and registered the win. York loaded the bases with no outs, but Cal-Mum ended the threat with a pair of force outs at home and another ground ball to get out of the inning. Elexis Dixon singled to leadoff the seventh but was stranded at second to end the game. York’s Meredith Holland struck out seven and went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Teammate Anna Lyness was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Emily Wallace had two RBI. Ariana Roessel was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Elexis Dixon had two hits in four at-bats.

Annabella Putnam hurled a one-hitter and struck out 16 without issuing a walk to lead A/P. The senior was 2-for-4 at the plate. Sidney Stratton paced the offense going 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a run scored. Emma Carlton went 4-for-4 with a double, run scored and an RBI. Kendra Pinckney finished 3-for-5 with a run scored in the win. Jordan Swift singled and scored. Lilliana Joristma walked, drove in a run and scored. Patience Gruenke had the lone Arkport/Caneseraga hit. Caitlin O’Dea had an RBI for the Wolves.

Irondequoit sent 11 batters to the plate in a decisive fourth inning. Marlayna Cartagena and Abby Ras connected on back-to-back run-scoring doubles as part of stretch that saw seven straight Irondequoit batters reach base – five of those connecting on two-baggers.  READ MORE.
