Michael Whelehan entered Tuesday’s Monroe County Division I matchup with a pair of runners on base, no outs and his Hilton Cadets holding a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning. The junior right-hander didn’t flinch. A shortstop by trade, he came off the mound to field a sacrifice bunt attempt and erased the lead runner at third. Aaron Crunick hurled a complete game shutout featuring eight strikeouts while only giving up three hits. A.J. DeBalso and Sam Boock led the Braves at the plate with each of them grabbing two RBI. The Braves capitalized on six walks. Josh Barnes, Matthew Pawlicki, and Sam Bement all collected one hit for Canandaigua. Robby Rappold, Tyler Reichert, and Jacob Tsymbal each had a hit for the Titans.

After blowing a 4-0 lead in the sixth, the Red Raiders bounced back in the seventh with three runs to capture their second win of the season. Connor Sackett cleared the bases in the seventh on a single up the middle, and help with some errors. Sackett ended the game 1-for-3 with two RBI. Nick Provenzano hurled four scoreless innings with eight strikeouts. Cameron Kingsley earned the win with three strikeouts in one and one-third shutout innings. Braden Consaul went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two stole bases, and Julein Mendoza had a double and an RBI. Angelo Morales recorded two RBI for the Spartans.

Jackson Zawacki led the Knights to their third-straight win with a team-high two RBI. The senior ended the game 2-for-4 including a run scored. Cole Pringle collected three hits in four at-bats alongside one RBI and two runs scored. Tyler Mullen went 2-for-3 and scored four runs from the leadoff spot. Alexander Renzi, Jacob Fekete, Noah Littlefield, and Paul Byrne all recorded an RBI in the win. Thomas Carter earned the win on the bump with five strong innings featuring five strikeouts. The junior allowed one run (unearned) on five hits. Mason Garcia closed the final two innings with two strikeouts and he allowed just one hit.
Thomas Bareham and Ryan Greenhagen led the Eastridge offense with two hits a piece. Greenhagen picked up the lone RBI of the gamer for the Lancers. Connor Welch had one hit and one run scored. Bareham and Evan Bishop combined to pitch for Eastridge.

Tino Tiermini struck out nine in a one-hit shutout and faced one over the minimum as Irondequoit picked up its second win. The junior southpaw retired 13 of the first 14 batters he faced and did not allow a hit until a two-out single in the fifth. He threw first-pitch strikes to 13 of 22 batters faced. Carraig Jones led the charge for the Eagles at the plate with a team-high two RBI. Jones finished the game 3-for-4. Leo Tellier, Connor Gresens, Connor Springer, Samuel Lessard, and Tiermini all picked up an RBI. Gresens had the only double, and finished 3-of-4 for the Eagles. Kyle Pioch pitched in two base-knocks. James Schlueter had the only hit for Greece Olympia/Odyssey.

Franklin picked up a win in the season opener behind Melgui Montalvo’s 4-for-4 game. Montalvo scored four runs while hitting two doubles, one triple, and one home run. Callan Reddington chipped in a 3-for-4 game while scoring three runs. Reddington earned the win on the mound, he gave up one run and stuck out eight. Outfielder Jariel Castoire went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI.

East had a dominant day at the plate, with the Eagles totaling 20 hits as a team. Miguel Matos went 4-of-5 with five RBI including two doubles and two triples. Dion Mather collected three hits in three at-bats, and Luis Rivera ended his game 3-of-4. Kyle Markham, Michael Conrow, Victor Arroyo, and Emille Diaz all had two base-knocks. Hernandez, Montero, and Brow all added on one hit. Ronnie Moore had the only hit for Monroe.

Dale Janezic earned the win for SOTA over five innings of work. Janezic struck out 11, and went 3-of-5 at the plate with three RBI. Justin Rodriguez also had a 3-of-5 game and scored two runs. Harry Larson and Benny Laver both scored two runs to go along with two hits.Michael Alvarez and David Reinosa paced Edison with two hits apiece.

Shawn Kimball struck out 10 over six innings to earn the win for Batavia. Kimball allowed one run over four hits for the Blue Devils. Alex Johnson and Cole Grazioplene both went 1-of-3.

Brady Bouchard earned the win on the mound for Penn Yan with eight strikeouts over four innings of work. Bouchard only allowed three hits in the four innings. Liam Chapman, Alex Foster, and reed Bouchard all had a base-hit for Penn Yan.

Palmyra-Macedon threw a combined no-hitter on the backs of Ian and Paul Goodness. Ian Goodness threw four innings, picked up the win, and struck out seven. Paul Goodness struck out the side in his one inning of work. Noah Brooks led Palmyra-Macedon at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored. Brooks went 2-for-4 including a home run and a double. Alex Wootton finished 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI, and three runs scored. Paul Goodness added a double, and three runs scored on the offensive side.

Michael Rowland led the Braves to their third-straight win with a team-high three RBI. Rowland finished the game 3-of-5 including a double and two runs scored. Richie Brice pitched in two hits alongside two RBI and two runs scored. Cael Driscoll added on an RBI and a run scored. Ryan Whitney and Nick Staley both collected two hits for Geneseo.

Brandon Benkovic, Tyler Mudge, and Brady Ruffell combined for 14 strikeouts on the hill for Wayne as the Eagles won on their opening day. Benkovic earned the win after striking out nine through three and one-third innings. The right-hander gave up one hit and one unearned run. Mudge went two and two-thirds and struck out three, and Ruffell closed the final inning with two strikeouts. Kyle Tomaselli charged the Wayne offense with two RBI and two runs scored. Ruffell finished his day 2-of-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Sean Nellis, Benkovic, and Benjamin Leone all had two hits for the Eagles.

Max Ryan paced Naples to an opening day victory with a five RBI day. Ryan slapped a grand slam, and finished a triple shy of the cycle. Ryan Lester roped two doubles, Owen Hulbert had two base hits and two RBI, and Jackson Brahm finished with two singles and an RBI. Charlie Grove got the win on the hill for Naples, and Drew Reigelsperger had two singles. Mike Kaufman, Sam Dufour, and Ben Jessop all had a hit for South Seneca/Romulus.

The sophomore also struck out nine and allowed five hits and two walks to register the victory. Aiden Ziefel was 1-for-2 with an RBI and run scored. Zaiden Blackmon had a hit and an RBI. Brian Geiger collected a hit and a run scored. Mason Mann scored a run and plated another with a sacrifice fly. Wayland-Cohocton’s Ethan Loop went 2-for-3 at the plate.
