Trailing by nine heading into the final eight minutes of the game, Matt Woods opened the stanza with his fourth 3-pointer of the game. Jackson Green used a spin move in the lane to finish at the rim. Woods followed with another triple to give Mendon a one-point edge at 44-43, the Vikings first lead since 15-14 midway through the second quarter. READ MORE.

Newark fell to Section VI’s Allegany-Limestone after being held to a season-low 30 points. Isaiah Camp and Raeshawn Howard led the way for the Reds with nine points apiece. Brayden Steve netted five points with a three-pointer, Gabriel Caraballo scored four, and Stevie Brown finished with three points.
Tyler Curran scored a game-high 22 points which led Allegany-Limestone. Curran went 8-of-11 from the charity stripe and knocked down two shots from deep. Gabe Ramadhan scored eight. Hudson Kwiatkowski ended with seven. Andrew Giardini tallied six and Maddox Delong scored one basket.

Zach Colvin scored six of his season-high 33 points during a 10-0 run late in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough as the Avon Braves fell to Salamanca, 61-59 in the New York State Class C Far West Regional championship. READ MORE.

WESTFIELD (VI) 56
Sawyer Devoe and Pacey Hopkins combined to score 55 points, and Avoca/Prattsburgh advanced to the New York State Class D semifinals.
Coming out of halftime with an eight-point lead, Hopkins connected on a jumper and followed with a 3-pointer. Next trip down the floor, the senior guard set up Haden Abbott for a trey in transition to force a timeout. Avoca/Prattsburgh had a 43-27 lead and did not allow Westifeld within single digits for the remainder of the contest. READ MORE.

Bishop Kearney head coach Kevan Sheppard figured Sectional MVP Aniya Rowe wouldn’t be a factor against Lancaster in the Class AA Far West Regional at Rush-Henrietta but the sophomore fought off illness to score 13 first half points and lead the Kings to a 64-55 victory and a spot in the NYSPHSAA semifinals in Troy. The poison Mendon used in this game came in the form of senior guards Anaya Coleman and Lily Kennedy.
Kennedy scored the first basket of the game, left all alone underneath the hoop and from there, she and Coleman just seemed to take turns and on the occasions of a miss, another senior, Bridget Miller, scored all six of her points in the first quarter as they jumped out to a 21-7 first quarter lead. Addison Bree paced Waterloo to the New York State Semifinal with a team-high 20 points. Bree connected on six shots from beyond-the-arc, and did most of her damage in the first half with 12 points. Giavanna White-Principio dialed it in from two-point range as the senior finished with 16 points all via the two-point shot. Morgan Caraballo was the final Waterloo player in double-figures with 10. Jazzmyn Lewis and Macy Carr both netted eight points, Natalie DiSanto totaled five, and Maci Mueller knocked down one three-pointer.
Sophie Auer led the way for the Porter Lancers with a game-high 24 points. Aliza Whitehead was the only other Lewiston player in double-figures with 11.
CLASS C
FREWSBURG (VI) 57
EAST ROCHESTER (24-1) 60
East Rochester found themselves in a tie game with 2:26 to play and Frewsburg with all the momentum in the Class C girls Far West Regional.
So, they turned to their only senior, Sam Lewis, right?
Try eighth-grader Aniyah Eldridge.
Scoreless until that point, she stuck a long three for her only basket of the game and the Bombers held on for a 60-57 victory and advanced to the program’s first New York State semifinal. READ MORE.

Batavia-Notre Dame fell just short of a New York State Semifinal berth to Sherman. Judah Macdonald led the Fighting Irish in scoring with nine points. Avelin Tomidy scored eight, Emma Sisson tallied five, Lindsey Weidman scored four, and Maylee Green had three.
Paige Gratto led all scorers with 24 points as Sherman moved on to the State Semifinals. Gratto netted six three-pointers for the Wildcats. Jenna Fisher added six points, Hayden Fisher scored three, and K Lindsey wrapped up the scoring with two points.
