Down 14 against number four Hilton in the Class AA semifinals, Rush-Henrietta rallied to tie the game and then win it in overtime, 66-65, in dramatic fashion. Tobey Wright hit a pair of free throws with 35 seconds left to tie the game at 56. Both teams missed free throws from there and the game went to overtime. READ MORE.

Any game plan that Jeff LaFave had for his Aquinas Li’l Irish heading into Tuesday’s Class AA semi-final needed re-focusing after a little more than six minutes of game action. That’s how much time it took for Edison Tech’s Marcqell Freeman to establish that the rim looked a lot larger than usual to him on this night. Freeman scored Edison’s first 13 points of the game including three 3-pointers – the second of which qualified as a heat check from at least 30 feet out as the shot clock expired. NO. 1 PITTSFORD MENDON (21-1) 62
Jackson Green scored 11 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter when Mendon erased a two-point deficit and went on to clinch its second straight trip to the Class A1 finals. Trailing 45-43, Green scored five straight in a 7-0 quarter-opening run. The junior guard accounted for six more points in a 12-0 run to close the game. Caleb Lewis finished with 14 points in the win. Eric Krowl had eight. Kidder Lindley and London Hoyser both had five points, Ryan Deuel (4) and Matt Woods (2) rounded out Mendon’s scoring. Irondequoit’s Ryan Heath scored 10 of his team-high 16 points in the third quarter when the Eagles took their first lead since the opening stanza. Damon Brumfield and Xavier Gissendanner scored four apiece in an 8-3 Irondequoit run to start the second quarter. Gissendanner had 10 points in the game. Brumfield scored six. Evan Leonardo had eight points. Charles Barnes (5) and Kenyen Lovett (2) also scored for Irondequoit.

Ben Carey and Michael Salina combined for 33 points which paced Webster Schroeder to the championship game. Carey finished with 17 points to go along with 10 assists, eight rebounds, and five steals. Salina ended with 16 points behind three shots from beyond-the-arc. Alex DeRosa chipped in eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Schroeder used a 16-0 run in the end of the first and beginning of second to climb out of a seven point deficit. Jon McCaffrey (6), Nick Hauman (6), Gio Schillaci (5), and Matthew Salina (3) closed out the scoring for the Warriors. Shawn Mason scored a game-high 23 points for Webster Thomas. Mason knocked down two three-pointers, and went a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe. Eli Adams and Sean Linder chipped in nine and eight points respectively. Webster Schroeder clinched a spot in the sectional finals for the first time since 2013 when the Warriors reached back-to-back championship games in Class AA1. Schroeder will play top-seeded Pittsford Mendon for the championship.

NO. 1 AVOCA/PRATTSBURGH (22-0) 82
Sawyer Devoe and Macoy Putnam shared the game-high of 23 points as Avoca/Prattsburgh ran its state-high unbeaten streak to 33 games and moved on to the Class D1 title game. Devoe added 11 rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals to his stat line. Sophomore Putnam finished with six assists and four steals alongside his 23 points. Haden Abbott chipped in 13 points, six rebounds, and five steals. Pacey Hopkins ended with six assist and six rebounds to go along with six points. Evan Campbell (9), Caleb Johnson (6), and Tucker Gerych (2) closed out the scoring for the Vikings. Logan Evans, Mike Phillips, and Cole Restey all scored eight points which led Marion. Avoca/Prattsburgh will face off against second-seeded Wheatland-Chili for the Class D1 crown.

Top-seeded Waterloo moved on to the finals behind Giavanna White-Principio’s team-high of 20 points. Morgan Caraballo and Natalie DiSanto were the only other Indians in double-figures with 16 and 11 respectively. Macy Carr (9), Jazzmyn Lewis (3), and Addison Bree (2) wrapped up the scoring for Waterloo. The Indians will meet up with Hornell to decide the Class B1 sectional championship.

Hornell reached the sectional title game fort the first time since 2016 behind a team-high 17 points from Lillian Hoyt. Hoyt added six rebounds to her line. Maddie Moore scored 12 points alongside eight rebounds, and Jordyn Dyring ended with 11 points and five rebounds. Jane Spitulnik had a team-high 12 rebounds, and tallied eight points alongside two charges taken. Tayghan Doorley wrapped up the scoring with eight points and five assists. Hornell will play Waterloo in the Class B1 sectional championship game.

Kendall Parker scored a team-high 19 points as Dundee/Bradford survived and moved on to the Class C3 title game. Five other BraveScots scored. Hallie Knapp had nine, Kailey Yeoman netted eight, Jade Roussell totaled two points, and both Mikayla Schoffner and Nikki Peterson ended with four points. Libby Benner led all scorers for Keshequa with 25 points. Benner added five steals and three rebounds to her line. Aurora Sabins corralled 10 rebounds. Ava Thayer scored six. Kelsey Davis, Jade Wolfer, Julia Wilkins, and Sabins all netted two points. Dundee/Bradford will go up against second-seeded York for the Class C3 title.

A three-headed attack of Riley Stowe, Kamryn Edwards, and Kendra Pickney combined for 44 points as Prattsburgh/Avoca reached the sectional title game. Stowe had a team-high 16 points, Edwards netted 15, and Pickney finished with 13. Emma Carlton and Marissa Reid both tallied four points, Brianna Jorritsma scored three, and Laura Morera ended the scoring with two points. Kayla Atherton scored a team-high 16 points for Jasper-Troupsburg. Kahley Stuart (9), Natalie Cornell (8), Reagan Miles (4), and Lauren Ross (2) closed out the scoring for Jasper-Troupsburg. Prattsburgh/Avoca will play Andover/Whitesville in the Class D2 title game.

Andover/Whitesville moved on to the finals behind Vanessa Hall’s game-high of 34 points. Rachel Jackson and Maria Riloba both added five points for the Panthers, and Serena Ainsworth netted one points. Andover/Whitesville will square off with Prattsburgh/Avoca in the Class D2 sectional championship.
