CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jala Coad, Brockport, Fr., RB, Amityville, NY/Amityville
Coad carried the ball 38 times for 167 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns to lead the way for Brockport in Saturday’s 26-14 home win over Utica. His 13-yard second quarter touchdown catch gave Brockport a 10-0 lead and he also helped the Golden Eagles secure the victory with a one-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to earn his second E8 weekly honor of 2021. Coad has scored at least one touchdown in all six games this season. He leads the conference and ranks ninth nationally in both total rushing yards (804) and rushing yards per game (134.0). He also leads the league and ranks in the top 25 nationally with 10 total touchdowns this season.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Tysean Sizer, St. John Fisher, Sr., KR/PR, Rochester, NY/Irondequoit
Sizer made history on Saturday versus Alfred, becoming the first player in St. John Fisher’s 50-year history to return a kickoff and a punt for a touchdown in the same game. Sizer broke a 14-14 tie after taking the opening kickoff of the second half 88 yards untouched before scrambling 38-yards down the sideline for a punt return score late in the fourth quarter that pulled Fisher to within one score. Overall, Sizer accounted for over 200 total return yards in the game.
MEN’S SOCCER
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Logan Menna, Nazareth, Fr., GK, Lancaster, NY/Lancaster
Menna made five saves in the 1-0 win over Elmira Saturday to record his fifth shutout of the year. Menna, who leads the Empire 8 in goals against average (0.58), save percentage (.885) and shutouts (5), earned his second E8 weekly honor in 2021.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Emma Osterhoudt, St. John Fisher, Fr., F, Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville
Osterhoudt scored the game-winning goal for the Cardinals in the 86th minute of play in a 2-1 victory at Utica on Wednesday. Osterhoudt, who has now scored three goals this season, tallied her second game winner in as many games and is tied for third-most goals on the squad.
