Tuesday’s ICBL Wrap: Monarchs grab fifth-straight win

The Monarchs captured their fifth-straight victory behind a strong pitching performance from Jaret Murray (SUNY Oneonta) and Tyler Henshaw (Potomac State). Murray got the start and hurled three innings of one-run ball. The right-hander gave up two hits and walked one while collecting one strikeout. Henshaw came in relief and earned the save over four shutout innings. Henshaw allowed two hits and one walk while striking out one; the right-hander lowered his season ERA to 1.02.

Jacob Carroll led the offensive attack for the Monarchs with a game-high three RBI. Carroll ended the game 2-for-2 with a walk. The Monarchs got on the board early with a bases-loaded walk and a Walker Wright (RIT) ground ball to go up 2-1 in the first inning. Leading 3-1, the Monarchs put the game away in the fifth frame with five runs on six hits and three walks highlighted by a Lucas Sulimowicz (Finger Lakes CC) RBI double. Jourdan Plaisted (Elmira) drove in two and scored a run on one hit, Wright went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, and Sulimowicz ended 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jared Signorelli (Elmira), Patrick Kravitz (St. John Fisher), Jacob Parker, and Matthew Spicer (Cayuga CC) all collected hits for the Monarchs.

Gavin Moore (Alfred State) paced the Orioles offense with two hits from the leadoff spot. Moore scored the only run for the Orioles in the first inning on a Trey Brown (UMass-Lowell) sacrifice fly. Devin Cannon and Henry Juan had the only other hits for the Orioles. Matthew Adams, Eddie Hall, and Dan Bowman combined to pitch for the Orioles.
