RIT women’s hockey announces 2021-22 season schedule

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT women’s hockey coach Celeste Brown announced the schedule for the 2021-22 season, Wednesday. The Tigers have 32 contests scheduled for the coming academic year, including 15 games in the friendly confines of the Gene Polisseni Center.

“We are thrilled to announce our schedule for the 2021-2022 season,” said Brown, who enters her second season at the helm of her alma mater. “The battle between CHA schools is always an opportunity for high-level hockey and we look forward to bringing our best game to the ice each matchup. We are also slotted to face some fierce non-conference competition and are counting down the days until puck drop. We cannot wait for our loyal supports to be with us every step of the way.”

RIT opens the campaign with a road game at Colgate on Friday, Sept. 24, before kicking off the home portion of the schedule the following day (Sept. 25) opposite the Raiders in the first of five-straight games at the GPC.

RIT will host Union (Oct. 1-2) and UConn (Oct. 8-9) on consecutive weekends before hitting the road for a two games at St. Lawrence (Oct. 22-23). The Tigers will close October hosting first-year Division I program St. Thomas (Minn.) for a pair of contests (Oct. 29-30).

RIT opens College Hockey America (CHA) conference play with a home-and-home doubleheader with Syracuse (Nov. 5-6), before traveling to Minnesota (Nov. 12-13) for a pair of games with the Gophers. Mercyhurst comes to town for a CHA doubleheader (Nov. 19-20) before RIT heads to Lindenwood (Dec. 3-4) for its final two games prior to winter break.

The Tigers welcome the New Year with a pair of games at Long Island University (Dec. 31-Jan. 1) before heading to Sacred Heart for a pair of faceoffs (Jan. 7-8). RIT will host Penn State (Jan. 14-15) for two games before playing its second home-and-home series with Syracuse (Jan. 21-22).

RIT closes the regular season with three-straight conference doubleheaders with host Mercyhurst (Feb. 4-5), visiting Lindenwood (Feb. 11-12) and host Penn State (Feb. 18-19) prior to the CHA Tournament (Feb. 24-26) to be hosted by the top seeded team.
