James Knapp threw for two touchdowns and Rushawn Baker added two running scores to lead Victor over Fairport, 28-7.
Knapp opened the scoring with a 46-yard pass to Trevor Knapp who picked up 25 yards on the run after catch. The senior quarter added his second touchdown pass of the day in the second quarter after finding a wide open Cody Jensen for 78 yards.
Baker capped off the first half with a five-yard touchdown run, pushing the score to 21-0. The senior maintained the momentum and helped Victor string together 11-straight runs which eventually handed him a walk-in touchdown to open the third frame.
Fairport’s defense opened the game strong with two quick sacks from Jae’lin Moss and an interception by Cameron Bush. From that point on, the Red Raiders struggled to hold down Victor, particularly on the ground.
Following the first half, Fairport began using Joseph Giggie at quarterback to reinforce the option plays they ran. The junior generated a handful of major runs to pick up key first downs and eventually allow for Kaeveon Rice to drive in a 1-yard touchdown. The team’s lone score came 17 seconds into the fourth quarter.
Victor (2-0) is set to face Hilton at home on Friday, April 2nd for a 5 p.m. kickoff. Fairport (0-2) will look to get its first win at Aquinas on Thursday, April 1st at 4 p.m.
