Semifinal Preview: Girls’ Soccer Class C1

The Class C1 semifinalists combine for a record of 34-5-5 as they begin play Monday at 6:00 P.M. Avon and Gananda will host. Avon will play Holley while Gananda will face Warsaw. Here is the breakdown:

No. 1 seed AVON BRAVES (13-0-0/Livingston County Division II) vs. No. 4 seed HOLLEY HAWKS (12-1-2/Genesee County Division I)

How they got here: Avon defeated No. 8 seed Marcus Whitman 4-0 in the quarterfinals. Holley beat fifth-seeded Bishop Kearney, 3-2in the quarterfinals, and Sodus 7-0 in the first round.

Total goals scored: Avon (65), Holley (50)

Total goals allowed: Avon (7), Holley (14)

Last time they met: Avon and Holley have not played each other this season.

Trends: Avon has won 13 straight, allowing just three goals in their last five games. Holley has won five straight.

How they got here: Gananda shut out Pembroke 1-0 in the quarterfinals. Warsaw beat Addison 3-2 in the quarterfinals.

Total goals allowed: Gananda (5), Warsaw (17)

Last time they met: Warsaw and Gananda have not played each other this season.

Trends: Warsaw won six out of the last seven games. Gananda has split two wins and two losses in their last four games.
