The Fighting Irish are not coming.
That is to say at least the Irish men’s hockey team will not travel to Rochester and play at the Blue Cross Arena in late October.
“As we continue to work with the NCAA and Atlantic Hockey on what the 2020-21 season will look like, we do know our annual homecoming game is not going to be played,” RIT Executive Athletic Director Lou Spiotti said in a release. “Blue Cross Arena is a terrific partner and, while we are disappointed this year’s game isn’t going to happen, we look forward to returning to what has become a home away from home for us sometime soon.”
The annual homecoming event was originally scheduled for October 24.
“Our guys look forward to playing in front of the great crowd that shows up for us at Blue Cross Arena,” said head coach Wayne Wilson. “It is always a fantastic atmosphere and we will definitely miss playing there this season.”
RIT is scheduled to play Notre Dame twice in the 2021-22 season.
Dates and opponents for future Brick City Homecoming dates will be announced at later dates.
This season’s schedule for both men’s and women’s hockey has yet tohave been announced.
